The 22-year-old midfielder will have to sit out of the tournament billed to commence next month as his Portuguese side will not release him
Dream Team VI midfielder Shehu Abdullahi will miss the 2015 All African Games billed for Brazzaville owing to his club’s refusal to release him.
The former Kano Pillars player is one of Samson Siasia’s reliable legs but his Portuguese side Uniao de Madiera turned down the player’s invitation, arguing that the All African Games is not on the Fifa international calendar.
“Shehu will no longer join us in Congo for the All African Games,” confirmed Dream Team spokesman Timi Ebikagboro.
Godwin Saviour and Blessing Eleke are likely to miss the African quadrennial multisport events following their clubs’s refusal to respond to the Nigeria Football Federation’s request to release them.
Nigeria will face Senegal and Ghana in Group B of the men’s football event. [GOAL]
