Marchisio declines Liverpool move

The Old Lady midfielder had been reported to be on the new Reds manager's wish-list but insisted he has no desire to leave Turin

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has dismissed reports linking him with a move to Liverpool, indicating that he has only recently signed a new contract with the Serie A champions.

Marchisio featured in the Derby d'Italia on Sunday as the Bianconeri played out a 0-0 draw away to Roberto Mancini's Inter side.

It has been a testing start to the season for Juve, with the Turin side down in 14th place in the Serie A table, but the Italy midfielder is not looking to leave, despite reported interest from new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

"It doesn't interest me," Marchisio told Mediaset when asked about a move away from Juventus.

"I've just signed a new contract with Juve."

Those sentiments were echoed by Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta, who highlighted the connection that Marchisio has with the Italian champions.

"He's the only player in our squad to have come through the youth ranks at Juventus and I think he wants to end his career in this glorious shirt," Marotta said, speaking to Mediaset.

"Marchisio is a very important player for us and we renewed his contract this summer. All I can say is that we're receiving offers all the time for our players, but we are used to buying, not selling players." (GOAL)
