Live commentary: CSKA Moscow 1 vs 1 Manchester United (FT)

90'Yellow Card Marouane Fellaini

88'Cauna has entered the fray in place of Dzagoev, who has not really been able to establish himself as an attacking force in this game. United are in possession as we enter the final minutes.

87'Substitution Alan Dzagoev(out) Aleksandrs Cauna(in)

86'Decent chance there for the visitors as Menphis bends a tricky cross in which is flicked back to Fellaini. The Belgian can't get to the ball ahead of Akinfeev though, and the keeper saves!

84'Panchenko comes on for Eremenko as CSKA try to freshen up their attacking options. United have held nearly three-quarters of the possession in this match, but the scores are level.

83'Substitution Roman Eremenko(out) Kirill Panchenko(inin)

80'Yellow Card Ander Herrera

80'Substitution Jesse Lingard(out) Memphis Depay(in)

80'Lingard's night is at an end as Memphis leaves the bench to play out the final minutes of this game. Moments after the substitution is completed, Herrera gets a yellow card for bringing down Musa.

77'Phil Jones does excellently to win his side a corner kick after he initially prevented a CSKA attack. He's made one or two important plays tonight that have sort of flown under the radar.

75'Who wants this more? At the moment, it definitely looks like United. A point in these frigid conditions is not a bad result, but you feel that they will want to push for the win - they're not settling into a conservative rhythm here!

73'Eremenko does well to hold onto possession under the considerable frame of Fellaini, and he works the ball left to Musa. The Nigerian must have seen a ghost runner though, because he plays a diagonal ball into the box nowhere near a teammate.

71'The home side continue to labour to get the ball out of their own half for any sustained period. You get the feeling that they will take the point as things stand. Just under 20 minutes to go.

69'You get the sense that United are only going to continue in the ascendancy here. They were already starting to apply pressure on CSKA and now they've found some end product.

67'How suitable from a United perspective that Fernandes was the man beaten by Martial for the equaliser, after the latter won a penalty off the former to originally open the scoring. Football is not without its little ironies.

65'Assist Antonio Valencia
65'Goal Anthony Martial

AND THAT'S THE LEVELER! Martial makes up for his earlier error to concede the penalty with a lovely diving header ahead of Fernandes. Valencia's cross on the overlap set up that chance!

64'CSKA TEST DE GEA! The home side work the ball quickly to Eremenko inside the area and before the defence can react, he bends one on goal with the outside of his boot but it's right down the throat of De Gea!

63'Substitution Marcos Rojo Daley Blind

62'Lingard's eyes light up for a moment as he gets into a great position, but he's called for an offside. That was another good move for United though, who isolated their runner on the left-hand side.here

60'United are starting to up the tempo here, with a sense of urgency creeping into everything they do. CSKA perhaps need to stop sitting back so much and allowing them to have all of the ball.

58'NOT A BAD TRY! Smalling does well to feed the ball into the right area and United can work it to Rooney, who lets fly from a decent position, but Akinfeev is equal to it.

56'Herrera gets tired of the stagnation and sideways passes and lets fly from 25 yards, but it was never going to trouble Akinfeev. His volley sails high into the stands and United must try again.

54'To United's credit, they have not allowed CSKA much time on the ball, and unlike the first half, they seem to have been able to recover their defensive position when needed to snuff out counter attacks.

52'Not a lot happening out on the pitch at the moment. United are trying to get the ball out wide to cross it to Fellaini, but CSKA are wise to that strategy and are blocking their space on the flanks.

50'United are looking a little more accomplished on the ball here. Their problem is that is still all looks so ponderous. With Fellaini on the pitch though, they always have that potential get-out-of-jail card for stagnated attacks.

48'Schweinsteiger has been replaced by Fellaini to start the second half. It appears for now that Herrera will sit back with Schneiderlin to allow the Belgian to attack from a more advanced midfield position.

46'SubstitutionBastian Schweinsteiger(out) Marouane Fellaini(in)
46'Here we go again.

CSKA Moscow have taken a 1-0 lead against Manchester United at the break, after Martial gave away a penalty in the first quarter-of-an-hour. De Gea saved Eremenko's kick, but Doumbia was on hand to convert the rebound. The Red Devils have been far from their best here in Russia. Can they recover? Second half is close, so stay tuned.

45' And without any stoppage time, the referee blows the whistle for the interval.

43' Musa tries to turn on the afterburners to get down the byline and beat Smalling, but the centre-back is on his game and prevents the ball from entering a dangerous area.

42' Substitution Vasiliy Berezutskiy(in) Alexey Berezutskiy(out)

41' Aleksei Berezutski was replaced by his twin Vasili in the starting lineup, and now he comes off the bench to return the favour to his brother, who is not able to play any further part here.

37'Rooney takes the ball nicely on the turn and weighs up his options quickly before deciding to let fly from about 25 yards, but he scoops it well over the bar. Not his best effort, that one.

35'This is far from a vintage United performance, with CSKA dealing with their attacking offerings with little trouble. Some signs that they may be starting to wake up though, as Martial is starting to fire in some decent balls.

33'Half chance for Wayne Rooney as a cross from Valencia was deflected towards the near post. The skipper makes contact but Akinfeev positions himself right in front of the ball to block.

31'DE GEA CALLED INTO ACTION! The Manchester United keeper has to stick up an arm acrobatically to tip away a stinger from Musa, who had collected the ball on the turn and let fly from distance.

29'Lingard gets involved for the first time, and it's no surprise to see that it comes down the left side instead of his starting position on the right flank. He keeps a hold of the ball under pressure but just can't squeeze in a cross in the end.

27'Fernandes looks to have Rojo and Martial figured out on the right-hand side, and he drives into space behind the pair once again in order to drill a low ball into the box, but there are no takers.

25'There's a glimpse at a break for Musa, who looks to have beaten the defence to a long ball over the top, but Jones and Smalling team up at the last moment to shepherd the ball back to De Gea.

23'Manchester United have not really looked for Lingard in the opening 23 minutes, and the youngster has started to drift infield in a bid to get the ball and get involved in this match.

21'CSKA have seen far less of the ball but have definitely been the more threatening team. They've moved the ball quickly down the flanks. United are getting too complacent on the ball and are slow to recover their defensive position.

19'United simply have not been able o get anything going when in possession and more often than not, they end up surrendering it to the home side after one too many sideways passes.

17'That was the second or third time that CSKA have been able to break Manchester United's left flank and this time, they've made them pay. It looks like a real problem area for the visitors.

15'Missed Penalty Roman Eremenko
15'Penalty save David de Gea
15'Goal Seydou Doumbia

CSKA HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD! De Gea, who made a great save in the buildup to that penalty, comes up with an even better one to stop Eremenko's kick low to the left corner. However, Doumbia reacts quickest to place the rebound home!

14'Yellow Card Anthony Martial

13'PENALTY TO CSKA! Fernandes gets by Martial down the right, and the ball appears to flick off the hand of the Frenchman as he tried to stop the cross from coming in. Yellow for Martial and a big opportunity for the hosts...

11'Wernbloom gets by Rojo down the flank and squeezes the ball into the area, but the midfielder's cross isn't accurate enough and it's stabbed away by the toe of Jones in the end.

9'United are trying to get Martial activated down the left-hand side, but so far, CSKA have thrown back whatever he's been able to offer on the ball. If that continues, don't be surprised to see him swap with Rooney.

7'The game has developed a pattern of Manchester United probing and passing patiently in the opposition half, while CSKA sit back and soak it up, while looking for the openings on the break.

5'Manchester United are showing signs of settling into a rhythm. For now, Herrera is lining up behind Rooney, with Lingard and Martial in support on the right and left flank respectively.
