The Flying Antelopes striker insists his team's Wednesday Federation Cup tie against the Pride of Benue is a huge contest and viewed much more than just a semi-final
Enugu Rangers striker Razaq Adegbite has disclosed that his side's clash with Lobi Stars in the 2015 Federation Cup is valued beyond a semi-final.
Rangers sealed a place in the last four stages after they recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory against El-Kanemi Warriors in the quarter-final and boosted their hopes for major silverware for three decades.
Despite going 31 years without a title, the former Nigeria U17 and U20 star says the Flying Antelopes are desperate to break the long standing title jinx. He noted that their clinical victory against El Kanemi Warriors is a testament of their resolve.
“We are very happy reaching this stage of the competition for the first time in a while. Playing against Lobi will be tough for us but we are fully prepared for the encounter," Adegbite told Goal.
"The mood within the team is very high and everyone is hungry to contribute his best to ensure the team make the finals. We are not losing any sleep yet as we all believe this is our chance to make history.
“I can assure fans and followers of Rangers that we will not disappoint this time around and we players see our game with Lobi on Wednesday is more than a semi-final.
"It was sad we lost to Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday, but we have move on and ready to amend our mistakes and importantly because we are more focused on the Lobi game.
“Our technical crew members and management are doing their very best than ever before to keep us motivated to make sure we break the yoke of not winning any trophy for over three decades.
Admitting the potential challenge Lobi Stars may pose the 22-year-old and former Kahramanspor of Turkey forward declared that the Markudi outfit will not ruin their ambition to play in the final.
“No sentiments, Lobi (Stars) are a very good, but for us to reach this stage i don't think they can stop us from making the finals," he concluded. [GOAL]
