Betis: Ceballos not joining Real Madrid

The Blancos have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old midfielder but his current employers expect him to imminently sign a contract extension

Real Betis president Juan Carlos Ollero has rubbished reports that teenage sensation Dani Ceballos is set to join Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old midfielder was one of the revelations of last season, making 33 Liga appearances, scoring five times in the process.

There has been talk that Madrid are now keen to lure the Spain Under-21 international to the Santiago Bernabeu but Ollero insists that Ceballos is going nowhere, revealing that he expects the youngster to sign a new contract with the Andalusian club.

"If Real Madrid want Ceballos, I suppose they'll have the courtesy to call us," he is quoted as saying by Marca. "But I'm sure he's going to stay at Betis.

"I don't know where the rumours are coming from. You'll have to ask whoever is circulating them.

"But I'm convinced that Ceballos will sign a new contract at Betis. Talks got underway several months ago and we hope to finalise the renewal shortly."
